GIS Expert

We currently seeking a GIS Expert  to offer his/her services as an expert who will be based in Ispra, Italy. The work will be carried out either in the company’s premises or on site at customer premises. In the context of the first assignment, the successful candidate will be integrated in the Development team of the company that will closely cooperate with a major client’s IT team on site.

Your tasks:

Conducting Remote Sensing, GIS data analysis and data modelling;

Verify and actively contribute to improving the thematic accuracy of the geospatial products, maintaining the highest quality standards;

Provide suggestions and expertise to enhance cartographic products, including Ready-to-Print Maps, Situational Reports, digital packages and more;

Play an active role in the development of internal geospatial tools and databases, enhancing data management and analysis capabilities;

Produce and maintain comprehensive documentation for all parts of the workflow;

Contribute to the technical evolution of IT systems and geospatial tools, staying up-to-date with industry advancements.

Requirements

Master’s degree in IT or relevant discipline, combined with 17 years of relevant working experience in IT;

Minimum 5 years of experience with Remote sensing, GIS, Emergency mapping;

Strong experience in designing geospatial information workflow;

In depth knowledge of the concept of geospatial data and geospatial formats for both vectors and raster;

Very good knowledge in validation and quality assessment of geomatic products;

Good knowledge of cartographic design;

Knowledge of flight planning for aerial missions;

Familiarity with LiDAR and photogrammetry analysis;

Experience in the field of satellite-based disaster mapping is highly preferred;

Experience in utilizing cloud computing platforms, such as Google Earth Engine and Amazon Web Services (AWS) is highly preferred;
